Film Work - Lonely Hearts

Watching the scene

One of Sam's recent film projects is his work alongside Director, James Keaton, on his film, Lonely Hearts.

The film is a quirky, bittersweet comedy about moving on after a failed relationship.

For emotional support, the central character turns to a soft-toy talking pig (played by Martin Freeman).

Lonely Hearts heavily features Sunshine from the Sounds of Home Album. You can listen to it here.

James has worked in production in the film industry for several years and his credits include; Bright Young Things, The Constant Gardener, Sugar Rush and Kenneth Branagh's version of As You Like It.

J. Michael Seyfert

Film Work - The Waorani

Since Oil Companies have entered their territory, the Waorani have made deals: oil for a pack of noodles and two soccer balls. Deals in exchange for nothing. The Waorani will continue to struggle for their survival, but in order to preserve their homeland and culture they must, paradoxically, adopt modern ways.

Once more, music from Sam's Sounds of Home Album has been intertwined with film work. This time a collaboration with thought-provoking Filmmaker, J. Michael Seyfert, pictured on the left.

JMS' time spent with the Waorani Tribe in his film, Los Soberanos is thought-provoking and truly perceptive. Click on the image below to visit the film's website.

The Waorani

Los Soberanos features Rain Flight from the Sounds of Home Album. You can listen to it here.

Of working with Sam, JMS said, "Sam is a talented , disciplined and dedicated musician & composer, he was an excellent collaborator and his contribution to my film was the dot on the i."

Neil Simone (by Heather Hewison)

Parallel Dimensions

A splendid collaboration with Yorkshire-based Artist, Neil Simone is one of Sam's most favourite projects to date. Inspired by Sam's music, Neil created a beautiful piece of artwork bustling with the natural elements.

It also features in Neil's memoirs, How Long Does It Take?

Parallel Dimensions

Upon being asked about Neil's work Sam said, "Work of this nature is extremely important in helping to expand peoples' ideas of what can be achieved by melding different aspects of art, in this case, audio and visual. Their combined effect is really very moving. Neil's work is fantastic; It truly transfixes people and lifts them away from the mundane. From the reactions I have seen, a viewing is truly a gift."
